Oconee Camping Weekend

"Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. As you sent Me into the world, so I have sent them into the world"
John 17:17-18

We had another fun filled weekend camping in South Carolina!! The weather was wonderful and loving all the family time.
We went hiking around the lake.
This was a neat detour of a train tunnel that was never finished.  It was scary and very dark but fun!

We made it to the end of the tunnel to nowhere.

Baiting her own hook and loved fishing!

Camping

I love Fall camping and this past weekend we went to Table Rock, SC. It is a great reminder of God's wonderful creation and the beauty that surrounds us.  It also helps quite our minds and slow down the pace of the busyness of life. Table Rock is a great place to camp with kids and could not ask for better weather!  We went hiking, biking, and had just all around fun.  We got to hang with the Rehberg family too, which we were glad to meet their newest addition Emma Kate. We are headed to Oconee camping this coming weekend and can't wait!
Don't you love my diva in her skirt....always styling no matter what she is doing!  Love that about my little Pheebers.

Also wanted to add some camping tips with young kids...

We like to take a box fan for noise at night ,to keep the pesky bugs away, and  to keep smoke away while sitting by the fire.

Take popcorn,always a big hit.

Glow stick, glow sticks, glow sticks!!!! You can see them in the dark too by the glow.

I found these finger lazer lights at the Dollar store, which the kids loved.

Put up colored lights (they give off just enough light around the site and easy to spot if you are coming back from the bathrooms or if the kids get turned around they can look for the colored lights).

Play-dough, coloring books, and games come in handy too.

If kids make friends be sure they stay in your camp site (so be sure to be the hot spot so they want to stay) You can keep a better eye on them and monitor what they are doing...

Hammocks can give many hours of fun for kids.

Tell the kids to be on the look out for stuff to put on the science shelf ( this time around we found an old wasp nest, empty snail shells, and a dirt dobbers mud nest).  The kids love that kind of stuff and keeps their eyes on the ground  and that helps to keep an eye on exposed roots to not fall down.

To add a twist to smores just use Reeses instead of chocolate.

I like to take books to read to the kid around the fire before bed.  It helps wind them down after all the sugar from smores and this time of year scary books are fun (age appropriate scary of course)!

Get the kids to help set up camp and pack things up too.  They like to be a part of it and keeps them out of trouble while you are setting up.

Do not worry about dirt because getting dirty is the fun part. I keep baby wipes handy for those super dirty hands and feet.

This weekend I am trying a couple of new things so will have to share those if they work out.  They now have phone apps to help identification of different animal scat and others too.  Got to love technology but last weekend we did not have service but I have a boy scout book just in case.  =)

I am sure I could add more but that is all I have for now,
HAPPY CAMPING!!!!

Check out these massive worms we found near the camp site....we first thought the one on the left was a snack because it was moving leaves when it crawled.  We are taking fishing poles with us next time!

Scripture that spoke to me this week was...
2 Timothy 1:7    "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline"

Roman 5:1-5 (vs.5) "And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into out heart by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us"

Weekend Happening...

This weekend Aunt Brittany and Uncle Steve came to visit. We went out to eat and the girls went shopping. Thanks for coming to visit! We also sent Lula back home with them because Mamaw wanted Lula for a week.

This is the first time to our neighborhood pool and G's first time in a pool. He loved it and it is going to be a fun summer.

Here is a sweet picture of Phoebe. Since Lu has been gone she has been getting lots of extra love and attention from me. Here she is dressed as a Princess and kept looking out the window of her castle searching for her Prince, she will be waiting for awhile because her daddy will not be home until late this afternoon.

Weekend Fun!!

This weekend we went to Chattanooga for a race and birthday. The birthday got canceled due to the weather so we visited family instead.
Here is Lula playing in the Harper's front yard. I think if she practices there is no stopping this lefty.
Phoebe sometimes like to play by herself, here she is playing with chalk. She likes to draw on her body with the chalk and more ended up on her rather than the sidewalk.

Awww memories...the kids slept together and it was so sweet!
Here is a picture of us girls after our race. It was hilly but we had so much fun. Hopefully we can do it next year too.

A big thanks to the Harpers for putting us up for the night, watching my kids, feeding us, and the great company. Looking forward to our next visit.

We stopped and visited with my sister and her sweet family. Here is a pic of the cousins together. My girls think they are the coolest ever! They keep talking about going back but we will have them down when the pool opens up.

Anthony is on the road again, NM, but will be back Friday. Lula is going to her first official dentist appointment tomorrow. She is terrified of the dentist because her only visit was an emergency. She has a very good memory apparently. I have not told her about it yet but will when we are in the parking lot, then I plan to say a pray for her so she will hopefully feel better. Anyway we are getting her ready to start kindergarten and the dentist is one of the requirements. We are sad but excited for her to start big girl school. I try no to think about it too much and looking forward to a fantastic summer. =)
Here is a picture of Lu at the dentist.

Happening.....

Anthony took the girls to the circus last week. Phoebe fell asleep 10 minutes into it and Lula covered her ears the whole time saying "it's too loud!". Anthony bought three seats and both girls stayed in his lap the whole time. Lesson learned...the girls are to young for the circus.

We went on our first hike of 2010! The weather was fantastic this weekend so we tried to spend as much time outdoors as we could. The hike was fun and it was Greyson's first nature walk.
Saturday night we went bowling with our Sunday school class and some friends. It was cosmic bowling so it was dark and loud music but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves.
We had a little friend join us....

Here is a picture of that outfit you bought Nana.....thought you would like to see him in it.

G likes his swing.
It is offical, G-man is 2 months old. He had to get shots so that is bandaids on his legs. He is healthy, happy little boy. Not sleeping through the night yet but I think it will be soon. He is going about 6 hours at night, which is great for me. =)

Here is a picture of a new sport we created...indoor bowling but you kick the ball instead of rolling it. The girls love it. Watch out for it at the 2016 olympics.

I want to ride my bicycle......

Pictures from the past week.....

This past week we have had an adjustment period but things are coming along smoothly, the kids are getting use to Greyson and we have had many family and friends visiting. Greyson is a good baby with his occasional moments and the girls are keeping Nana on her toes. Anthony has been a tremendous help and my recovery is going great. I have to take it easy but at least I am up and about and ready to get out of the house soon except brrrrrr...... it is really cold! Thanks again for all the prayers, love, and support. =)

Daddy took the girls to a build-A-Bear birthday party and had so much fun.

He likes his paci!

The girls braving the cold and playing outside thanks to daddy!!

Lula enjoying her new ride and loves it!

I love this picture of the girls kissing Grey on the head!
